Hungry Children in the World General Purpose: To persuade A. How many of you are worried about where your next meal will come from? Are you unsure of how you’re going to purchase next week’s groceries or what you will be feeding your children for dinner tonight? This probably isn’t something most of you think about from day to day. When you are hungry, you eat. It’s easy for you to grab a sandwich, order a pizza, or run through the drive thru when you are on the go. However, there are many families, not just in other countries, but here in the United States as well, that are going hungry every day. According to kidshealth.org, a child dies from malnutrition and related causes every 6 seconds. B. Children all over the world are going†¦show more content†¦This food product includes rice, soy, vegetables, a vegetarian-based chicken flavoring, and a vitamin and mineral mix. Food scientists continue to update the formula. 2. FMSC sought to develop a cost-effective way to package a nd ship these meals around the country and world. After testing packing machines FMSC realized these machines were expensive and ineffective and that is how they developed the volunteer packing method they use today. To distribute the packaged meals, FMSC partnered with major global non-profit distribution companies. 3. In 2003 FMSC produced 3 million meals with one packing site and 17,000 volunteers. According to the Daily Herald, by 2011 FMSC produced over 133 million meals with 6 permanent packing sites, and a nationwide MobilePack program, and more than 565,000 volunteers (over half of those being children). 4. A single bag of food—which provides highly nutritious meals for six children—costs around $1.44 to produce, and 93 percent of all donations to FMSC goes directly toward the food program. D.
